Tune properties and standard notation
CAILÍN DONN/DHONN, AN (The Brown-Haired Girl). See "The Brown-Haired Girl." AKA and see "Collendoon," "The Banks of (the) Claudy." Irish, Air (3/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune was recorded in the Belfast Northern Star of July 15th, 1792, as having been played by ten Irish harp masters at the last great harp convocation, the Belfast Harp Festival, held that week. The melody is a variant of the once-popular "Banks of Claudy." See also "The Blackhaired Lass," "The Dark Gate Girl," and "The Dark Haired Girl [2]."
