DOODLETOWN FIFER [2], THE. AKA - "Doodletown Fiddler." AKA and see "Year of Jubilo," "Kingdom Coming." American, March (2/4 time). USA, southwestern Pa. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABA. This tune is easily recognized as the air to the blackface minstrel song "Kingdom Coming", credited to Henry Clay Work ("The Year of Jubilo"), employed by Bayard's source as a march tune. There is an abandoned village called Doodletown in the heart of the Hudson Valley's Harriman State Park which saw minor activity in the Revolutionary War, but there is no evidence that is the Doodletown referenced.
