Tune properties and standard notation

ELEANOR NEARY'S. Irish, Hornpipe. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune has been attibuted to pianist Eleanor (Neary), one of the outstanding Irish musicians in Chicago in the 1930's, who died in 1993. However, it is a version of "Fantastic Hornpipe", printed in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883) (also Cole's 1000). Eleanor' husband, Jim Neary ("Neary's"), was a fiddler, originally from County Mayo, and their home was a haven for Irish musicians in Chicago in the 78 RPM era.
