GREEN JACKET, THE (An Casog Glas). AKA and see "Cailín Fionn (An)" (The Fairhaired Girl), "Connacht Reel (1) (The)," "Milestone (1) (The)," "Millstone (The)," "Miss Corbett's Reel," "New Domain (The)," "New Demense (1) (The)," "Old Locks and Quays of Galway," "Whiskey in the Jar," "Whiskey in the Jug." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (O'Neill/1850 & 1001): AA'B (O'Neill/1915 & Krassen). The melody belongs to the "College Grove/College Groves" family of tunes. Breathnach prints a version as "Cavan Reel (The)."

Source for notated version: "Cronin" [O'Neill]. Chicago fiddler Edward Cronin was born in Limerick Junction, County Tipperary in the 1840's. He had a large repertoire (which O'Neill mined for many tunes) but could be difficult to get along with in the long run.
