HEY ROBIN, JOLLY ROBIN. English, Air (3/4 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. The lyrics were originally a poem by Sir Thomas Wyatt (1503-1542) set by William Cornyshe during the reign of Henry VIII. A portion of the lyric is quoted by Feste the clown in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night (act IV, scene 2) when he baits Malvolio. The poem is given in Percy, but the song, in three parts, is in Noah Greenberg's English Song Book.
