BANISHED TO AMERICA. Irish, Air (4/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning. AB. O'Neill obtained the tune from the Rice-Walsh manuscript. O'Neill (1922) says of the collection: "the most valuable was one which included much of the repertory of Jeremiah Breen, a blind fiddler of great repute who flourished a generation ago in North Kerry, between Listowel and Ballybunion. His tunes were noted down by Thomas Rice, a talented pupil, and later copied by his friend James P. Walsh, now a Sergeant of police in Chicago."
Printed source: O'Neill (Waifs and Strays of Gaelic Melody), 1922.
