BRIGGHAM HORNPIPE. English, Hornpipe. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A hornpipe from the c. 1850 music manuscript collection of Lake District fiddler William Irwin (1822-1889), in which it is attributed to the author. See Greg Stephen's well-researched article "A Really First-Rate Country Fiddler" for more on Irwin [1]. Brigham, Cumbria, is a village near the town of Cockermouth, notable for its Norman church, St. Bridgets, and the fact that it was the birthplace of Fletcher Christian of Mutiny on the Bounty fame.

Printed source: Knowles (A Northern Lass), 1995; p. 18.
