BROACHING THE CIDER. American, Hornpipe. B Flat Major ('A' part) & F Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The "Broaching the Cider" is a title newly minted from an untitled tune in the manuscript (Recollection of a Busy Life) of New Hampshire fiddler John Adams Taggart (1854-1943). He learned the melody as a boy from neighborhood musicians in the town of Sharon.
