BROWN'S COWS. Irish, Jig. F Major. Standard tuning. AABB. Composed by fiddler and pianist Josephine Keegan (b. 1935), of Mullaghbawn, south County Antrim. The title refers to a trip Keegan took that turned into a disaster of confused venues and mistakes in planning. The group seemed to her to imitate the anecdotal 'Brown's cows', who went out to pasture in ones and twos in the morning and came home the same way in evening.
