From the Sherborne, east Glouchestershire, area of England's Cotswolds, where the music was traditionally playedon the pipe and tabor (whittle and dub). Hugh Mellor (1935) notes that the tune has a 'Rosalie', in the second part, which he maintains is unusual in English folk music but common in Welsh (see the related Welsh melody "Nyth Y Gwcw").
