CRUISGIN BEAG, AN (The Little Jug/Pot). Irish, Air (2/4 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. O'Sullivan (1983) believes this tune probably to be a variant of "An Cruiscin Lan," which he remarks is "still sung today in West Cork." The earliest recorded version of the tune (according to O'Sullivan) is in an English ballad opera entitled The Beggar's Wedding by Irishman Charles Coffey, performed in 1728.

Source for notated version: the tune was noted from "Miss Murphy, Dublin, 1839" by the Irish collector Edward Bunting (1840).
