LADIES DRESSED IN THEIR GARMENTS SO GREEN, THE. Irish, Song Air (3/4 time). E Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Mr. MacKenzie says:-- 'This air was popular in Ballycastle (in Antrim) about 1840 and long before that. I often heard it played on the harp'" (Joyce, 1909). Bayard (1981) believes the tune resembles "Whistling Mike" (O'Neill), "Tinware Lass (The)" (Ryan's Mammoth/Cole's 1000), "Pewter Mug" (Ford), and his own Pennsylvania-collected "Governor Taylor's March."
