LADY LOUISA RUSSELL'S JIG. Scottish, Jig. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. Composed by William Marshall (1748-1833). Lady Louisa Russell [1] (1810-1905) was the grand-daughter of Marshall's employer, Alexander, the 4th Duke of Gordon, by the Duke's daughter Lady Georgiana Gordon and her husband John Russell, the 6th Duke of Beford.

She married James Hamilton, 1st Duke of Abercorn, in 1832 at Gordon Castle, Fochabers, Morayshire, Scotland, and became Duchess of Abercorn upon her husband's ascension. She became one of the leading women of British society, and twice was offered the office of Mistress of the Robes (in 1841 and 1852), which she declined. Her husband died in 1885, and she outlived him by 20 years. She died at her residence in Coates Castle, near Petworth.
