LAFFERTY'S. AKA and see "Crane's Leg (The)," "Glen of Aherlow (2) (The)," "Rattigan's Reel (2)," "Rediggan's," "Woman I Never Forgot (The)." Irish, Reel. E Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by County Tipperary fiddler Seán Ryan (d. 1985) as "Glen of Aherlow (The)." The "Lafferty's" title is the one Kevin Burke used on recordings, although Martin Byrne also used the title on his "Paddy in the Smoke." It comes from the recording of the tune by Clare fiddlers Paddy Caney and P.J. Hayes (on "All Ireland Champions-Violin"), a name that honors the pianist on the record, Bridie Lafferty.

Source for notated version: a recording by Paddy Canney and P.J. Hayes [O'Malley].
