LAIRD OF THRUMS. AKA and see "Frank Cassidy's Barn Dance," "Frank Cassidy's Highland Fling." Scottish, Strathspey. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by J. Scott Skinner (1843-1927) and dedicated to Alex MacPherson of Kirriemuir; the title was Skinner's nickname for his friend, and Thrums was the old name for Kirriemuir. It was first published in his folio Monekie Series No.3, with "Gay Gordons Pipe March" and "Zeppelin Humourous Hornpipe" (Zeppelin (The)).
