MISS SUSAN COOPER. Shetland, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by the late Shetland pianist and piano-accordion player Ronnie Cooper (d. 1982), a self-taught musician. The tune is named for his sister. It is widely known by fiddlers throughout Britain and has been popular with Scottish dance bands. It can be heard as part of the "Flatback Caper" set, played on duelling mandolins, on Fairport Covention’s album "Full House.” See also his compositions “Left Handed Tushkar (The)” and “Mickie Ainsworth.”
