MISS BROWN'S REEL. AKA and see “Donegal Reel (1),” "Hero (The)," “Una Bhain Ni Chuinneagin,” "Wagoner (1)." American? Scottish?, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB: AABB (Howe, Phillips, White). The tune appears under this title in mid-nineteenth century publications (1851). It also appears copied into the c. 1840’s music manuscript copybook of Setauket, Long Island, painter and fiddler William Sydney Mount (1807-1868), among other Scottish dance tunes. Howe (1867) prints dance instructions and includes the melody in his section of Contra Dances. Alan Jabbour notes that the American tune “Wagoner” seems derivative.
