LOCH KATRINE. Scottish, Strathspey. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC. Composed by Nathaniel Gow (1763-1831). Loch Katrine gets its name from the Gaelic word for 'Highland robber', cateran, and indeed, Loch Katerine was the birthplace of famed outlaw Rob Roy MacGraggor. It was also the setting for Sir Walter Scott's "Lady of the Lake" (1810). It is located in the Trossachs district, east of Loch Lomond, and straddles Perthshire and Stirlingshire.
