MRS. FORDYCE OF AYTON'S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was composed by Perthshire fiddler-composer Biography:Robert Mackintosh, in honor of Catherine Maxwell of Monreith, sister of Jane, Duchess of Gordon (strathspey composer William Marshall's employer). Catherine married John Fordyce Esq., of Ayton, Berwickshire, who was the Receiver-General of Land Tax in Scotland.
