MISS JEAN ROBERTSON’S REEL. Scottish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The melody was printed by Glasgow publisher James Aird in his Selection of Scotch, English, Irish and Foreign Airs, vol. 5 (Glasgow, 1797, p. 13). It appears in the music manuscript copybook of John Burks, dated 1821, as “Miss Jane Robertson’s Reel.” Unfortunately, nothing is known of Burks, although he may have been from the north of England.
