LORD ABOYNE. Scottish, Slow Strathspey. D Major. Standard tuning. AAB. The Lords Aboyne were the Gordon family, and Aboyne Castle was a stronghold for the Gordons from the 13th century onward. In the hills above the village of Aboyne stands an ancient cairn, said to mark the spot where MacBeth made his last stand before being slain by Malcolm in 1057.
