LOUGH ALLEN [1] (Loc-Aillinne). AKA and see "Box about the Fireplace," "Millstream (The)." Irish, Reel or Hornpipe. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABB (O'Neill/1850 & 1001): AA'BB (O'Neill/Krassen). Lough Allen is a lake 8 miles long and 3 miles wide located in County Leitrim and County Roscommon in the north of Ireland; it is deep and famous for its fishing. The upper Shannon River flows through it, and together with Lough Ree and Lough Derg it makes up the great Shannon Lakes. The territory was in ancient times under control of the O'Rourke clan and its subdivisions.
