QUALSAY. AKA and see "Boanie Isle o' Whalsay (1) (Da)." Shetland, Reel. Shetland, Mid Yell. A Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. From J. Hoseason's manuscript, 1863. The tune has been played in reel and jig time, but is generally played in reel time today. Cooke speculates that such tunes were originally played in an ambiguous time between duple and triple.
