CHIEFTAIN'S LAMENT, THE (Do chinneadh bhi gun cheann). Scottish, Slow Air (4/4 time). G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "This air has verses to the colonel of Glengarry's regiment in Prince Charles' army, who was killed by a random shot from one of his own men on the street of Falkirk in 1745, an event which much deranged their proceedings. There are words also on Lord Lovat's decapitation" (Fraser).
