MARQUIS OF HUNTLY'S REEL [2]. Scottish, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Hardie, Martin): AA'BB' (Perlman). Composed by Peter Milne (1824-1908), appearing in Middleton's Selection of Strathspeys, Reels (1870), which he edited. Milne was known as the 'Tarland Minstrel', and so immersed in his art that he once said, "I was that fond o' my fiddle, I could sit inside it and look oot." This tune, which is considered among those of Milne's better compositions, is frequently preceded in a set by another Milne composition, "Marchioness of Huntly--Aboyne Castle (3) (The)."
