MARQUIS OF HARLINGTON, THE. AKA and see "Dearest Dicky." English, Jig. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The Marquis of Harlington was the title in the 18th century of the eldest son of the Duke of Devonshire. The tune was published in Preston's Twenty Four Country Dances for the Year 1801 (London). It appears in the c. 1860's music manuscript of William Tildesley (Swinton, Lancashire), under the title "The Marquis."
