MARY BRENNAN'S FAVORITE (Rogha Mháire Ní Bhraonáin). Irish, Single Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Bayard (1981) sees this tune as a composite of "Hundred Pipers (A)" and "Captain Jinks," as well as having "an elusive sort of general resemblance to the "Mill Mill O" air" (p. 524).
Source for notated version: fiddler John Kelly/Sean O'Kelly (Dublin, Ireland, originally from west County Clare), who had the tune from his mother, who had it from her mother, the eponymous Mary Brennan, who was born on Scattery Island in 1855 [Breathnach/Kelly].
