MASTER HENRY'S REEL [1] (Ríl an Mháistir Mhic Annraoi). Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Breathnach (1985) records that the master referred to was a schoolteacher named Batt Henry (1872-1957), from Ballymote, south County Sligo. Henry also taught fiddle and dancing, and was the first person in the district to obtain Michael Coleman records from America. He recorded for Parlophone with his group Batt Henry's Traditional Ballymote Quartet. Fiddler Johnny Henry (1922-1996) of Doocastle was a first cousin, once removed (i.e. Johnny's father and Batt were first cousins).

Source for notated version: flute player Tommy Hart (Co. Sligo, Ireland) [Breathnach].

Printed sources: Breathnach (CRÉ II), 1976; No. 157, p. 83.
