MRS. FULLARTON OF FULLARTON'S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Attributed to fiddler-composer Biography:John French (1752-1803) of Cumnock, Ayrshire. Mrs. Fullarton was nee Marianne Mackay, the second daughter of George Mackay, 5th Lord Reay. In 1792 she married William Fullerton (1754–1808) a soldier, statesman, agriculturalist and author, who had been a hero of British arms in India. They had one child, a daughter. In 1805 the estate of Fullarton, Ayrshire, was purchased by the Duke of Portland. Marianne Fullarton died in March, 1838, surviving her husband by thirty years.
