McGOVERN'S FAVORITE (Rogha Mhic Shamhráin). AKA - "McGovern's." AKA and see "Conneberry Reel (The)," "Cottage in the Grove (1)," "Maurice Casey's Fancy," "Mike Flynn's," "Village in the Grove." Irish, Reel. A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The tune was recorded by Sligo fiddler Paddy Killoran in June, 1939, under this title (backed with "Tom Ward's Downfall"). O'Neill prints the tune as "Maurice Casey's Fancy," while Joyce, Goodman and Roche have it as "Cottage in the Grove (1)." See also the similar-sounding "Coen's Memories," composed by east Galway fiddler Tommy Coen.
