MIDNIGHT WALTZ [1]. Old-Time, Waltz. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The waltz was recorded by Alamabam musicians Charlie and Ira Stripling in 1929. Different tunes called "Midnight Waltz" were recorded in the 78 RPM era by Mississippi musicians Willie Narmour and Shell Smith (1929, see "Midnight Waltz (5)"), and by Carson Robison's group, The Moonshiners (1930, see "Midnight Waltz (6)").

The Stripling Brothers (Charlie and Ira are on the right, the Freeman brothers on the left)
