BUCK FROM THE MOUNTAIN, THE. AKA and see "Hanover Hornpipe," "McElligott's Fancy." Irish, Hornpipe. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This was the title of the tune used on a popular recording by County Leitrim flute player John McKenna made in New York in 1925 (paired with "McPartland's Style"). It was more recently recorded under this title by fiddler Frankie Gavin (on his album ""Croch Suas É/Up and Away") and by the group Danú (on "All Things Considered"). See also the related American "Hanover Hornpipe" in fife repertoire.
