GEORDIE AFFLECK. AKA and see "Eamonn Coynes," "The Mint in the Corn." Scottish, Reel. E Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Geordie Affleck" is a later name for the tune originally composed in the key of E Flat by fiddler-composer Biography:William Marshall (1748-1833), issued under the title "English Mariner (The)." It was published on a single-sheet, paired with Marshall's "Marchioness of Cornwallis’s Strathspey (The)," and was later published by fiddler-composer Biography:Johnny Pringle as "Miss Maxwell Gordon’s Reel." The tune is known among older fiddlers in County Donegal, Ireland, as "Mint in the Corn (The)" played variously in the key of D Major (Francie Dearg & Mickey ban O Beirn) or A Major (John Doherty & Danny O'Donnell).
