MOLLY BAWN [3]. AKA and see "Fairhaired Mary," "Finbar Dwyer's Reel (2)." Irish, Reel. A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Fiddler Paddy Canny has recorded the tune under this title. The melody is a variant of O'Carolan's old composition "Fairhaired Mary." Closely related to "Molly Bawn's (2)", but the first strain in Breatnach's setting (from Mary Bergin) is different enough to warrant a variant.

Source for notated version: tin whistle player Mary Bergin [Breathnach].

Printed sources: Black (Music's the Very Best Thing), 1996; No. 172, p. 90. Breathnach (CRÉ III), 1985; No. 123 (appears as "Gan ainm/No title").

Recorded sources: Compass Records 7 4407 2, Ciaran Tourish - "Down the Line" (2005). Shanachie 34014, James Kelly, Paddy O'Brien & Daithi Sproule - "Traditional Music of Ireland" (1995).
