CENTENNIAL WALTZ. Canadian, Waltz. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Maritime fiddler Don Messer (1909-1973), probably in honor of the Canadian Centennial in 1967. Messer was born in Tweedside, New Brunswick, and became widely popular throughout Canada as a result of his radio broadcasts and long-running television show, Don Messer's Jubilee (which debuted in 1959).
