NAPOLEON CROSSING THE ALPS [1]. AKA and see "Boney Crossing the Alps," "Bonaparte Crossing the Alps," "Bonaparte Crossing the Rhine (2)," "Bonaparte's Retreat (5)" (Pa). English, Reel. A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. See Bayard's (1944) note for "Annotation:Bonaparte's Retreat (5)." He stated in his 1981 volume that the tune is a member of the ubiquitous "Lazarus" tune family. A Pennsylvania-collected march called "Governor Taylor's March" is similar.
