From the repertoire of fiddler John Doherty, County Donegal, Ireland, who called it "The Stepping Stones" due to its rising and falling step-like melody, according to Caoimhin Mac Aoidh. The tune is still in the County Donegal fiddle repertory, though its origins are Scottish (as "Jenkin's Hornpipe").
