NEW DUTCH SKIPPER. English, Country Dance Tune and Jig (6/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The melody appears in several volumes issued by London publisher John Walsh (and later his son, also John Walsh), including The Compleat Tutor to the Hautboy (c. 1715, p. 15), The Third Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master (1735, p. 195), and The Compleat Country Dancing-Master. Volume the Third (1749, p. 183). Publisher John Johnson printed it for London dancing master Daniel Wright in Wright's Compleat Collection of Celebrated Country Dances (1740, p. 38).
