COLONEL BAIRD [1]. Scottish, Jig. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by "the late Mrs. Oswald of Auchicruive" (nee Mary Ramsay, who died in 1788) on whom for more see "Annotation:Miss Johnston of Hilton's Fancy". The melody honors Sir James Baird who, in 1781, married Henrietta Johnson of Hilton (for whom see "Miss Johnston of Hilton's Fancy”).
