NEW SCOTCH MEASURE [1], A. Scottish, Reel. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune appears in London music publisher Henry Playford's 1700 collection of Scottish music. The manuscript contains the first mention in print of the term 'Scotch Measure', a Scottish national dance, and a type of reel distinctive by a slower pace.
