NEW YEAR'S DAY [3]. English, Hornpipe. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A melody composed by the great Tyneside fiddler and composer biography:James Hill, probably written in the mid-18th century. It was included in a manuscript book (c. mid-19th century) of William Hall Lister and Robert Lister, East Bolden, Northumberland, who both seem to have contributed pieces to the manuscript and who were probably both fiddlers. See also the nearly identical variant "New Year's Gift."
