MRS. ADIE. AKA - "Mrs. Adye." AKA and see "Miss Adie," "Miss Adye's Strathspey." Scottish, Strathspey. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Cole, Surenne): AAB (Athole, Gow, Skye). Composed by Major William Logan, of a line of William Logan’s of Ayrshire. The Major was a well-known gentleman in Ayrshire and a highly esteemed convivial companion. He was skilled on the violin and was, it is said, an intimate of Niel Gow and Robert Burns. See “Annotation:Major Logan's Frolic” for more on him.

As with many such tunes the honorific "Miss" and "Mrs." varied from collection to collection, as did the spelling of proper names. In the case of this strathspey, see also "Miss Adie" for more.
