NINE PINT COGGIE [1], THE. AKA - "The Nine Point Coggie." AKA and see "The Collier's Daughter," "The Mullingar Lea." Scottish, Reel. G Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Howe): AAB (Little, Skinner): AABB (Kerr). "Ancient Reel" (Skinner). A coggie or cogie is a small barrel or container made of staves. The tune is based on an earlier tune called "Collier's Daughter (The)" in James Gillespie's manuscript fiddle book from 1768, according to Nigel Gatherer. It appears in William Christie's 1820 collection. Cape Breton fiddler Winston Fitzgerald recorded it under the "Nine Pint" title. Irish versions go under the title "Mulligar Lea."
