CUCKOO'S NEST [3]. English, Morris Dance Tune (2/2 time). E Dorian (Mallinson): G Dorian (Bacon). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (x5), AA (Mallinson): AABA (Bacon). From the Sherborne, east Glouchestershire, area of England's Cotswolds, where the music was traditionally playedon the pipe and tabor (whittle and dub). Hugh Mellor (Welsh Dance Tunes, 1935) notes that the tune has a 'Rosalie', in the second part, which he maintains is unusual in English folk music but common in Welsh (see the related Welsh melody "Nyth Y Gwcw").
