NUTS IN MAY. English, Morris Dance Tune (2/2 and 6/8 times). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABCCCCCCCAB. A tune for a stick dance collected from the village of Lichfield, Staffordshire, England. Nuts in May is the name of the dance to which the tunes are associated; the first two parts of which is "Girl I Left Behind Me (1) (The)," while the third is "Here we go round the mulberry bush." 'Nuts' in the title is thought to be a variant of 'knots', referring to the bouquets or knots of flowers traditionally carried at Whitsun.
