CALLAGHAN'S (REEL) [2]. AKA and see "Ríl Uí Cheallacháin." AKA and see "Concert Reel (4) (The)," "Denis Murphy's Reel (1)," "Doon Reel (4) (The)," "Now She's Purring," "O'Callaghan's Reel." Irish, Reel. Ireland, County Kerry. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (most versions): AABB (Miller). The third of the three "Doon Reels" learned from fiddler Cal Callaghan, of Doon, Kerry, who taught Padraig O'Keefe, himself an influential fiddler and teacher in the Sliabh Luachra region. There are several reels named "Callaghan" or "O'Callaghan" attributed to the source.

Source for notated version: fiddler Denis Murphy , 1966 (Gneeveguilla, Co. Kerry, Ireland) [Breathnach]; New Jersey flute player Mike Rafferty, born in Ballinakill, Co. Galway, in 1926 [Harker]; banjo player Mick O'Connor [Bulmer & Sharpley].
