COLLIER'S LASS, THE. Scottish, Dance Tune (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The melody was published in 1700 in London by Henry Playford in his collection of thirty-nine Scottish melodies. Later derivatives of the melody were "Coallier's Daughter (The)" (Gillespie Manuscript of Perth), "Collier's Daughter (The)", "Collier's Bonnie Lassie (The)," and the air for poet Robert Burns's "Jock of Hazeldean" and "O Saw Ye Bonnie Lesley."
