VARIETY IS CHARMING. AKA - " I'm in love with twenty." English, Air and Country Dance (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The song appears in late 18th century songsters such as Calliope (1778), Vocal Music, or the Songster's Companion (1778), and The Humming Bird. The song, originally written for Richard Sheridan's The Rival's, begins:

I'm in love with twenty
I'm in love with twenty
And could adore
As many more
For nothing's like a plenty,
Variety is charming,
Variety is charming,
For constancy
Is not for me
So ladies you have warning.
