OLD DUTCH CHURN, THE. AKA and see "Fig for a Kiss (1) (A)," "Gáire na mBan," "Gliogar an Mheadair" (Gurgling of the Churn), "Gluigir a Mhidir," "Milk the Churn," "Two in a gig." Irish, Cape Breton, New England; Jig and Slip Jig. G Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Cole, Dunlay & Reich, Ryan, Tolman): AA'BB' (Dunlay & Greenberg). "The Old Dutch Churn" title was brought to light in Cape Breton tradition by Kate Dunlay, who recognized a 9/8 time version of Fitzgerald's tune in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883). Fiddler Frank Ferrel plays a 6/8 version of the tune.
