OLD MASTER'S RUNAWAY. Old-Time. A version of Henry Clay Work's song "Year of Jubilo/Year of the Jubilo" (See also "Massa's Gone Away" and "Kingdom Coming") learned by Sam & Kirk McGee from their father, Uncle John McGee, a "contest-winning fiddler in his own right" (Charles Wolfe). The tune was recorded by the brothers in May, 1927 in New York City, accompanied by fiddler Mazy Todd.
